Starting point
In early 2022, plenty of NFT projects failed on technology rather than artwork: unreliable purchasing platforms, confusing wallet setups, and minting flows that were hard to use without prior knowledge. On Ethereum mainnet, gas fees made smaller purchases unattractive on top of that.
Immutable Imps – a generative collection of 6,666 hellish imps – needed the opposite: a platform where collectors could mint without any technical background. The collection positioned itself as the first of its kind on Immutable X, a Layer 2 that combines Ethereum security with gas-free minting.
The collection
Sneak peeks from the original gallery: every imp is generated from artwork layers – horns, wings, weapons, and color worlds combine into a hellish one-of-a-kind.

Our approach
CPI Technologies developed the smart contract infrastructure in Solidity – with automated contract execution, security audits, and testing protocols. Minting was integrated straight into the landing page: connect a wallet, mint, done.
On top of that came an ERC-20 token generator that lets tokens be configured without writing a line of code – name, symbol, total supply, and decimals are freely adjustable. Recovery features protect against accidental token loss.
Immutable X served as the foundation: the Layer 2 handles minting and trading without gas fees, while ownership stays secured on the Ethereum blockchain.

Results
The collection launched on Immutable X in January 2022, with a presale at 0.0555 ETH and a public sale at 0.0666 ETH. Collectors minted straight from the landing page – no gas fees, no technical background required.
The ERC-20 token generator lowered the bar on the token side as well: personalized tokens without a single line of code.
Today the project shows what decentralized ownership means in practice: the original project website has since gone offline – the imps are unaffected and continue to trade on marketplaces like OpenSea and OKX, because ownership lives on-chain.
